I got some exciting new on my end! I finally have a website live that will be developing more as time goes on. Currently it’s set up pretty simple, but one of the things I really wanted to have was a simple submit event tab. So if you are ever having an event you want me to place in the newsletter events list for free, go to my website and submit details!

A big thank you to my wonderful sister. She was on vacation and came to visit here in Bakersfield last weekend, and she ended up spending some 20 hours working on it. She’s the best!

Over 57% of you voted you thought we were having a boy, but we’re actually going to have our 2nd daughter! I have to say, I’m excited. I need a boy eventually, but I love being a girl dad. Thank you guys for voting.

Bakersfield Boxer Invited to Mike Tyson Showcase
Local boxer and content creator Rowdy Ryan represented Bakersfield at Mike Tyson Invitational II, an invite-only amateur boxing showcase held July 25 in Las Vegas. The USA Boxing-sanctioned event featured amateur fighters personally selected by Mike Tyson, giving rising boxers a national stage to showcase their talent.
Ryan is a young teen fighter. Make sure to follow his instagram.
Frontier Grad Signs with the Colorado Rockies
Frontier High School graduate Hudson Barrett has officially signed with the Colorado Rockies after being selected in the eighth round of the 2026 MLB Draft. Barrett starred at UCSB before transferring to Oklahoma State following Tommy John surgery, completing an impressive comeback on his path to professional baseball.

Uricchio's Trattoria Closes for the Summer
Downtown staple Uricchio's Trattoria has temporarily closed for its annual summer break. The family-owned Italian restaurant has served Bakersfield for more than 30 years from the historic Haberfelde Building at 17th and K streets. No reopening date has been announced.

No Data Centers in Kern County Petition Launches
A new online petition is calling on Kern County officials to oppose future data center developments throughout the county. Organizers cite concerns over water use, electricity demand, environmental impacts, and long-term community planning while urging residents to sign in support of stricter oversight and public review. The petition comes as proposed data center projects continue to generate discussion across Kern County.
